I was always quite healthy but had not healthy eating habits due to the availability of not so healthy snacks, eating lots of sugar and red meat.
The first time that I started to change my ways was when my dad became very ill. He was treated incorrectly by his GP for a period of 2 years and then was referred to a specialist which with proper examination found that he had colon cancer.
He endured chemo therapy and radium treatment. After the treatment he had an colostomy operation. My dad had a remarkable recovery due to his faith in God. With in two months of the operation he helped with renovations on the house. People could not believe how he had recovered in such a short space of time. All was well. This happened in the year 2000.
In 2003 however, my dad started to suffer with pain in the abdomen and lower back area. We went to an other doctor which did tests and referred my dad to a specialist. He was diagnosed with cancer of the liver and spleen. The doctor told my dad that he had three months to live and to get his will in order and to do the things that he needed to do while he was still able to do them. It was a horrible time in my life. Struggling with family that basically came to see what they could inherit, too my mom that suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and water retention.
She kept on going back to the initial GP that treated my dad incorrectly at this stage. My mom had blood sugar readings of 27mmol/L and at times it was not measurable with her blood glucose measuring device. She at times did not know where she was or what she was doing. I had very little sleep taking care of my two parents. My dad did not want to go to hospital, his wish was to pass away at home. I took care of him up until the end. Before he passed away, I promised him that I would write a book about his life story. He would at the table when the three of us had breakfast, lunch and supper tell us his stories from his childhood and adult life. It was a great healing experience to have written his life story after my dad had passed on because we were very close to one an other. It took me 8 months to do. After writing the book, I did the editing myself as well as the page set up and printing. I located a book binder in East London and had it bound in hard cover. The book is kept in a special showcase, at the time I felt like not sleeping until this task had been completed because it was a promise and I do not make a promise and not keep it.
About three months after my dad had passed away, I received a flyer from a man in the street that had information about some nutritional supplements and I got in touch with this individual that became my friend and that is when I started using natural supplements and have had great health results.
As is child I had asma, and allergies, I was a little bit chubby too. I started training heavily when I was 14 years old and did so for many years. However, I did not loose such a lot of weight due to incorrect diet. When I changed my diet (way of eating in conjunction with exercise) I lost between 4 and 8kg in one month. I do not go to a doctor if I have a simple little health issue example: cold, strained muscle due to training or otherwise.
I use my natural supplements by just increasing the quantity that I take everyday and it enables my body to communicate properly from cell to cell what to do with the nutrition that I have consumed which make my body function normally and take care of the health issue. At one stage I weighed 83kg, now I have maintained 75kg since 2004.
Weight can be deceptive because one' body retains water, builds lean muscle mass which weigh more than fat. So I have learned not to rely on the decline in weight as much, but to rather take measurements that show the true results. I went from 83kg to 71kg and then gained in muscle to 75kg. Some people think that if they starve themselves by eating less they will lose weight. What they do not realise is that your body will use the protein (muscle) before it will start using the fat of your body. Rather eat more protein which helps your body have lean healthy muscle that burns fact and exercises while cutting back on the calories and you will lose the unwanted fat and retain and increase your muscle mass. Also take in adequate amounts of water. If you cannot bath in it, it is not water. You must drink water, about +- 1,5Litres per day and put nutrition back into your body that is why it might be a good idea to consult with a dietitian / physician when you want to go on a weight loss program. Important to note also the fact that after weight or fat loss program, you need to follow a maintaining program of eating or you will just put back what you lost and more. I did my own research and found two companies with excellent information which helped me to get the results that I wanted. Advise, do some research of your own, don't always just except what people tell you, people do not know everything, there for we need to go look for ourselves.
My mom had heart and kidney failure at the time when I heard about the amazing discovery and now using natural supplements her kidneys are showing greatly improved function and she has not shown any heart damage. In fact, some of her medications have been reduced and some taken away completely. One of the medications that she was on that has been prescribed by the physician that treated my dad initially was the cause of my mom' kidney and heart failure.After going back to him because she battled with her breathing he just prescribed and extra water tablet for her to use. I was not happy about that, so I took my mom to an other doctor and he sent her to a specialist immediately, which discontinued some of her chronic medications.
My mom' mobility has also greatly improved since she is on these supplements. We generally eat very healthy. My mom cannot eat a lot of fruit obviously because she is diabetic but I on the other hand eat lots of fruit. We hardly eat red meat. We have mostly chicken, fish, mixed vegetables, raw tomato, cabbage, onion, carrot, garlic(occasionally), Apples, bananas, pears, oranges, pineapples, GI Low brown bread. Mom has seen a dietitian which gave her a eating plan to follow.
Basically out of every plate of food she has to have mostly protein, little starch, and then she can have as many free foods as she wants example: Cabbage, tomato, beans, cucumber, cauliflower but to name a few. I get most of my nutrient intake from my supplementation though and found that in the last few years since 2004 when I started doing so, I have not had the need to go visit a physician for any health issue. When I see a physician, I ask him how he is feeling. (Little joke)
I can truly recommend that people should eat healthy to stay healthy. I have done some research and the fact of the matter is that our food of today has not nearly got the nutritional value as 50 odd years ago. It does not seem to be getting better for time to come, People that eat or try to eat healthy will have to supplement to obtain there nutrients required for optimal health.
Some information that I have come across indicate that diseases are directly related to deficiency in specific nutrients. Our bodies are designed to fix and repair itself but we need to put the material into it, the building blocks for it to do this. There is a science which is relatively new but is hailed as the most exciting medical discovery with in the last 100 years. The Science of Glycomics. I found this most interesting and did some research about it. I have my mom and myself benefit from this technology which is totally natural. I love reading how people through making use of natural foods or supplements have shown remarkable health results. Did you know that vitamins from synthetic origins molecular structure is symmetric where as vitamins from plant sources are not symmetric in structure which is infinitely more beneficial to our bodies because our bodies are designed to absorb plant based phytonutrients which are not symmetric in molecular structure. In fact, absorption is 170% more by the human body when phytonutrients are taken. Food for thought is it not? I stay in East London and visited a friend in Cape Town, I rent flatlets and do clock repairs as a hobby. Learned this skill from my dad and keep it alive today. There are not many clock repairers in South Africa. I am most probably the only one left in East London. There was an other gentleman that also use too repair clocks in East London but a year or two ago he moved to Port Elizabeth. He was quite old too, I wonder if he is still alive.....
