Hi Ta. Nice to hear from you. Several things we have done for her. Obviuosly she is (was) on many of the typical prescribed meds for high blood press., cholesterol, diabetes, etc.. Our original goal was not necessarily to prolong her life (she is 90+), but to improve the quality of her remaining years! The meds had so many side affects that one could clearly see that the end-result was a miserable ending.

The first thing was to get her off of the cholesterol drugs. Secondly, we sought a second opinion from several different doctors. It was amazing on how they disagreed on the type and quantity she should be taking (drugs that is)! We found one that changed the various doses of meds for the diabetes and amazingly, she started sleeping better (so the first lesson is this: get a second or even third opinion for anyone you love... even yourself!). Be sure to get copies of the medical charts from current tests (glucose, A1c, etc..) so that you can take them with you!

Due to her age, I started her on P73 formula Oreganol caplets (regular strength). These help with strengthening her heart, and help prevent any possible infection (here is a little secret for those who don't know... Oreganol will KILL both the AIDS and HEP C viruses!). The cost is not prohibitive for a 30-90 day supply. For a reference to learn more... order the book 'The Cure is in the Cupboard'. This is NOT the same Oregano as in your spice cabinet. We keep both the oil and caplets stored at home (extra strength).

The next thing we did was put her on dried Goji berries. We order the organic berries from the Tibetan company located on one of the San Juan Islands (WA state). We simply place a handful daily in her water to drink! These provide her with lots of anti-oxidants and a natural fruit that did not raise her blood sugar levels while sipping water most of day. The first thing we noticed immediately (after 1 week) is that her lethargy seem to lift and she became more alert (mentally). This was the only major change in her diet at the time, and when we removed them for a short period, the energy level and mental acuity slowed. Needless to say, the cost of a 5 lb bag is cheap, the product is great, and lasts several months (eat some too, they are OK!).

Now, what has now lowered her blood sugar levels to normal... such that the we now believe she is no longer insulin resistant? Simply this, a product we order from Vancouver, BC. It is combination of tea (easy to consume) and tablets. The product line is called Eleotin. The downfall is... it is fairly expensive! However, they make it clear, if you don't see results in 1-2 years, then it will probably never work. The product is composed primarily of natural herbs from China that have shown a remarked abiltiy to actually heal diabetics (both types). It of course is NOT sold in the US (hmmm... I wonder why?). They also provide support, including actually calling you and seeing how it is working as time goes bye (unsolicited). I was impressed.

The only other thing we have her on is Intramax. This is a liquid vitamin, mineral, etc.. complex that is easy to take... and not bad tasting! Most importantly however, is the fact that the nutrients are nearly 100% bioavailable and enter the body quickly. Elderly people have a tough time taking lots of pills sometimes, but this stuff is easy. Not only that, but I and my wife take it too! I can NOT even began to tell you what it has done for her AND ourselves! If you take only one thing away from this long reply... get on this stuff NOW! A little expensive, but the cheapest form of insurance you can find... and throw away all other supplements! This liquid dynamite replaces all of the other supplements you could possibly take.

Needless to say, with proper diet, lots of good water, the Goji berries, Oreganol, Eleotin, and Intramax, my grandmother has now been almost totally removed from all medications now. She is very alert, more energetic (you should see how her face has brightened and color return), sleeping better, and her blood sugar levels rarely spike above 115! She looks already 10-15 years younger in only 14 months!

Not the quickest solution, but I always recommend that you give it time when trying to reverse an illness or disease. Most of the above is common sense... not rocket science.
