If you have high blood pressure, I would follow a doctors directions rather than trying to lower it yourself. I would guess besides a prescription medicine to lower your blood pressure, you can also help lower it through a healthy diet and exercise.

How to Lower Blood Pressure Naturally - 4 Natural Ways to Lower Your Blood Pressure

Eat right

The diet of a hypertensive individual is not too complicated. You can still consume sweets, carbohydrates, fats, and foods high in protein. However, you should limit their amounts. If you are exposed to high carbohydrate diet, consider limiting your daily portions of carbohydrates. For instance, take about six to eight servings of a half cup of rice instead of several full cups in every meal. Meat should also be lean or low in fat and taken a maximum of six servings per day.

Hypertension is highly linked with diet high in salt content. Salt should be largely avoided in hypertensive individuals because it makes tissues retain fluid, thus, putting more pressure on the arteries. A healthy serving size of salt is only a pinch size per day. Instead of salt, your diet should contain high amounts of calcium and potassium. Research studies claim that low calcium in diet is linked to hypertension. Potassium as well has been found to regulate hypertension. Thus, consuming proper amounts of calcium and potassium can lower blood pressure naturally.

Exercise

Sedentary lifestyle is another important reason of hypertension. You should take an effort to do a great deal of physical activities. A loss of weight of about five kilograms in overweight people can help bring it down effectively.

Avoid unhealthy habits

Smoking can constrict your respiratory pathways. Through time, smoking will make breathing difficult for you because of constricted airways. Hence, smoking can raise the risk of hypertension as well as death from stroke. If you avoid smoking, then, you are lowering the risk and dangers of complications of hypertension. You should also avoid drinking too much alcohol. Alcohol interferes with certain hormones important in keeping a healthy blood pressure.

Constantly monitor your blood pressure

Closely monitor your blood pressure. This way you can easily take necessary action if you find that you are hypertensive. The availability of portable devices have made blood pressure measurements easy to do even at home.
